Does my Central Heating System need to be Power-flushed?

What is a Power Flush and how does it work?

A Power Flushing machine cleans out all debris (dirt, sludge, rust) that has built up over time within your (CHS) central heating system, including the boiler and radiators.

It has a high power jet function that, once attached to your CHS circulation pump, it empties the system and then chemicals are flushed through the system to breakdown & clear out any debris and contaminates.

The main aim of a power flush is to improve system circulation which then improves efficiency. It is recommended that we should power flush our heating systems every five years to prevent build up, inefficiency and breakdown.

Below is a ‘before’ and ‘after’ picture of a pipe that was completely blocked to the main heat exchanger.

Power Flushing Central Heating

What are the signs your central heating system needs a Flush?

Sludge, rust and debris will build up in the boiler, pipework & radiators when the system is not properly maintained. These blockages restrict the flow of water throughout the heating system, which  prevents the heat from reaching all areas. This transpires to loss of heat and wasted money & energy.

  • Cold spots on radiators
  • Hot water not fully heating up
  • Radiators not heating up, or taking a long time to heat
  • Banging or knocking noises emitting from central heating system
  • Boiler keeps breaking down or requiring to be reset

What are the benefits of Power Flushing?

After your central heating system has been Power Flushed, you will spot the benefits right away.

  • Radiators will heat correctly and quickly
  • Hot water temperature increased
  • It will improve the efficient running of the System which will in turn mean your energy
  • bills could be reduced
  • The lifespan of your Central Heating System will be extended
  • The cleaner flow of hot water reduces and stops many boiler and pipe noises
  • Lessen the chance of breakdowns

What will occur if I don’t Power Flush my Central Heating System?

Circulation throughout the system will become very slow, meaning that radiators will take a long time to heat up, eventually stopping all together.

The central heating system will become less efficient, costing more money in energy and repair costs.

Arrange your power flush today.

With annual boiler servicing and regular maintenance, a power flush should only be required every five years.

If you are interested in having your system power flushed please call us on 0203 651 9551 / 07956 170701 or email us at

If you are looking to renew your boiler, we include a power flush with our boiler upgrades as standard procedure at no extra cost.
